In November, I did a crazy thing. I bought a camper.
It’s a beautiful 2021 Forest River Wolf-Pup 16BHS.
I’m now a Happy Camper with my own little happy camper!
I have wanted a camper of my own for a very long time. My parents actually sold me their old Coachman back in 2015 when they purchased a new one. I was so excited to gut it and update it with my own personal touches! Unfortunately, I had to sell it because I was leaving Florida for a while, not knowing when I would be back, and I couldn’t take care of it in the meantime.
Buying this new camper was a dream come true. Since it’s only me and my 12-pound dog, I didn’t need a very big camper. I knew I didn’t want to get a pop-up because I wanted to get away from everything tent-like. (I have camped in a tent for almost a decade!) I also needed something light enough that I could pull it with my Jeep Wrangler, so I knew I wasn’t looking for anything with slide-outs.
The model I bought has a short queen bed (that can be converted to a regular queen if I take out a shelf), a small dinette that seats two, and bunk beds in the back. The dinette folds down into another bed as well. It sleeps 3-5 comfortably. There is no oven, but it does have two gas burners, a microwave, a large kitchen sink, and in the bathroom there is a toilet and a shower/sink combo.
I took my happy camper on her inaugural camping trip over Thanksgiving week, and then again for New Years! I, of course, bought necessities, and also bought a little bit of decor to make it feel cozy.
After taking it for a couple spins, and joining a few groups on Facebook, I have a few projects planned to maximize my space efficiency, and to make it a bit more comfortable. More on those ideas/updates to come!!
My goal is to be able to take it around the country to different states to satisfy my Travel Bug! In these unprecedented times (COVID-19 Times…) Traveling is so hard, especially flying and all that. This will not only allow me to take a little bit of home with me when I travel, it allows me to have less contact with others, while still getting to see more parts of this beautiful country we live in! (As you can see below, Gunny is already extremely comfortable in his new little house!)
Have you ever owned a camper, or stayed in one?
